Are wall murals 'do it yourself'?

Yes. Most customers install their own murals. Our Vinyl and Canvas murals go up much like wallpaper. Our SmartStick® material is very similar to a peel-and-stick wall décor. If you prefer professional installation, please click here to out about hiring a Professional Installer in your area.

Are the vinyl and canvas murals pre-pasted?

No. Our vinyl and canvas murals will need to be applied with paste. Applying paste during installation makes the process easier.

Our SmartStick® material is a peel-and-stick wall décor. You simply remove the backing when placing it on your wall. SmartStick® has a light texture similar to vinyl and is a much higher quality and durable material than other peel-and-stick options.

What if the wall I want the mural on is not a smooth surface?

If you have a textured wall, a wood-paneled wall, a wall made from cinder block, or any other rough surface, we recommend the installation of a 'liner paper', followed by 2 coats of flat latex paint. A liner paper is simply blank wallpaper which covers irregularities in the wall surface.

Can a mural be cleaned?

Should you need to clean your mural, lightly wash with a damp sponge. Excessive scrubbing or harsh materials may damage the printed surface.

Will my wall be damaged when I remove a wall mural to redecorate?

No, the wall will not be damaged. You will want to carefully remove the mural and then wipe off any residue on your wall with a clean, damp sponge or towel.

Our SmartStick® material can be easily removed and repositioned up to 200 times without damaging your wall.

Can I install a wall mural in a bathroom or other high-moisture area?

Yes, if certain precautions are taken. Our vinyl and canvas murals must be coated with a water-based polyurethane (several light coats) to protect them from moisture. In addition, if you suspect moisture exists behind the wall, an adhesive containing a mildewcide should be used.

What sizes are available?

What are my size options?

You can order any size from 1.22m x 1.83m . We are able to develop a mural in a size to meet your needs. Each mural is printed-on-demand based on your size preference. You may need to crop a a particular image to meet your exact measurements.

Why is there a minimum size?

There is a minimum size of 1.22m x 1.83m required for artists licensing our product as a mural. The sizes can go either direction as long as one direction exceeds four feet and the other exceeds 1.83m.

Is there a maximum size?

There really is no maximum, within reason. The direction of the image may determine a maximum size more than anything. A person wouldn't want to take a vertical image and stretch it to fit a hallway because of the way it would distort an image. If you have questions about making an image work, give us a call. Do you offer metric sizes for international customers?

Yes. You will find an English-to-metric converter within any product page on Murals Your Way. You can easily submit your desired width and height and meters and centimeters.

What if I'm not sure my image is of a high enough quality for a mural?

Call us or email us. Tell us your concerns about the image and we can help you decide if it is going to turn out the way you want. We want you to love the mural you get, and we will do everything we can to ensure your image is going to turn out the way you want.

File size required is from 500KB to 20MB and in a .jpg or .tiff format. We also accept scanned and vectorized artwork. For more information visit our upload your own photo page for additional specifications and copyright questions.

Why can't I do a mural from a developed picture smaller than 8 x 10 or a thumbnail web image?

A developed image (in a small size) can’t be scanned at high enough quality to expand the image into a wall mural. However if you have the negative of the photo, we will more than likely be able to generate a mural. Photographs taken with a digital camera at least larger than 6 megapixels will work best. The output of your mural is only as good as the input of your photo or image.

What Should I know about copyrights?

Can you expedite my order?

Our murals are usually shipped within 7 business days but if you need your mural to arrive within 5 business days please use our Rush Order option at checkout or contact a Mural Consultant at 1-888-558-0279.

Do you accept international orders?

Yes. We welcome international orders and will ship to all locations served by DHL Express Worldwide. Please email us or call if you have any specific questions. You can also submit your shipping address info within our shopping cart to find DHL Express additional shipping charges.

What is your return policy?

If you are unhappy with the quality of your mural we will work with you until you are 100% satisfied. If within 90 days you still want to return your mural, we require that you call us for a return authorization number, simply pay the return shipping costs to return the entire mural.

How are the murals packaged?

Each mural comes rolled inside a tube and protective wrap in its own unique 150cm x 12.7cm x 12.7cm cardboard box. Our high quality vinyl, canvas, and SmartStick® murals will never arrive wrinkled like paper murals.

What if I want a mural created for an image not currently offered on Picture Club?

Give our customer service department a call (1.888.558.0279), we will be able to check on the availability of your desired image as a mural.

Do you charge sales tax?

There is no sales tax for purchases shipped outside of Minnesota and Nevada.

Will I receive a shipping confirmation/receipt for my order?

After you place your order you will receive an email confirmation with your order details. Once your order has been completed and ships you will receive an email with a fedex tracking number to monitor delivery.

What methods of payment do you accept?

We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover. Contact our customer service if you would like to pay via Paypal.

Hanging Instructions

What do I need to know before I begin hanging a wall mural?

For vinyl or canvas murals your wall surface should be smooth, and free of irregularities. The ideal surface is an inexpensive flat latex paint (no wall prep/primer.) If you are unsure of your existing painted wall, we recommend 2 coats of flat latex paint. If the existing paint is a gloss or semi-gloss, use a medium grit sandpaper to roughen it. Please contact us if you have any questions.

SmartStick® repositionable wall covering murals will adhere to nearly any surface.

What other types of installation can I use besides pasting or adhering to my wall?

How do I take precaution with light switches and and other objects on my wall?

You will want to remove any light switch covers or other objects on the wall. Then carefully trim around your light switch or outlet with a cutting tool during the application phase of installation. After you place your order you will receive an email confirmation with your order details. Once your order has been completed and ships you will receive an email with a fedex tracking number to monitor delivery.
